Ordering FAQ

Where is your board shaped and glassed?
Since I moved to Arizona 4 years ago, I now shape boards at Global Glassing in Oceanside, California. I'm happy to be able to get my boards glassed in Jeff Morgan's shop. He has a team of professional craftsmen who do an excellent job of finishing out my shapes.

Since I am now working in San Diego County, how do I get my boards to my customers?
Since most of my customers live in the Central Coast area of Santa Cruz County and the surrounding Bay Area, I will be delivering boards every 4 to 6 weeks. I drive up from San Diego and stay a few days in Capitola to hand off boards to my customers.  If I have orders from customers along the coast from Orange County to Santa Cruz, I drop boards off on my way North. If you order a custom board and live outside of California, I ship boards C.O.D. through American Airlines Air Cargo. You will be able to pick up your board at the air cargo depot in most major US cities. We normally don't ship internationally because of high shipping costs and foreign duty charges, but we will deal with each situation individually.

Are all boards hand shaped by Michel Junod?
Michel shapes every board.  They are all his designs and there are no "ghost shapers." Michel has taken advantage of the available technology using CNC shaping machines. He works with Lucas Plese and his team at KKL Machine in Vista. They have over 20 years experience in milling surfboards and are known for their quality and attention to detail. Michel then hand shapes each board to ensure every nuance and detail for his customers.

What is the normal turnaround time for a custom board?
As I stated in question 2, I travel from my home in Arizona every 4 to 6 weeks to pick up the finished boards I shaped on my previous trip.  If you order a custom board before I leave for San Diego, I can have that board, cut and finish shaped after I arrive and then we can start the glassing process.  When I return again 4 to 6 weeks later from Arizona, your board will be ready for pick up.

How can I discuss with Michel what I want regarding the glass job, color choices, and other details of the glassing process?
No matter if this is your first custom board or if you have ordered custom boards in the past, Michel will always spend time with you on the phone going over every detail of your custom board. Texting makes it easy to discuss color choices, logo style and color and any other details to make this a truly custom product.

When is Michel available to discuss the above process or to answer other questions about board design?
You can text me or call me at 831 427-0712 and I will get back to you ASAP.

Thank you for your interest in my boards.  Still shaping after all these years.  Sincerely,
-Michel Junod
